The Founding Stories

Fine Art education had been inadequate in Hong Kong’s schooling curriculum. Coupled with the lack of government focus and funding, art classes can only be taught superficially. Consequently, students’ interest towards art is not cultivated and fails to nurture artistic talents for the future of Hong Kong cultural needs.

In the Hong Kong education reform process, the ‘lifelong learning, well-being development’ concept has been raised; fine art education has been included in the 8 primary learning domains, so as to enhance a healthy student lifestyle and to cultivate interest in arts, as well as the ability to appreciate. At present,

the global fine art education is engaging in the diversified field of operations; international renown art schools are implementing renovations in education programmes and student recruitment mechanism. Art schools engaged collaboratively with other academies to complement each other, to connect and refine art education concepts.

Embrace the arrival of the 21st-century intellectual economy, to cultivate student the ability to ponder over problems, the ability to adapt and reform, the ability to innovate; diversification in education becomes vitally important. In view of this, Hong Kong International Academy of Art - Wu Yeung Atelier has been actively coordinating the ‘life-long learning, well-being development’ concept; running the school with outstanding and contemporary concepts, to create aesthetic education, as well as to start up professional fine art teaching. We aim to provide more learning opportunities for students, to develop students’ virtue, intellect and physical well-being, and also to explore their hidden capabilities, to open up arts dimensions, arts understandings and appreciations. At the same time, the academy earnestly looks forward to improving, to build up the complementary arrangement with the academia, to achieve in-depth interactions and collaborations.

Mr Wu Yeung founded the Hong Kong International Academy of Art - Wu Yeung Atelier in 1989. Throughout the 28 years of fine art practice and teaching experience, Mr Wu Yeung has established and perfected a systematic teaching concept. We strived to provide professional and comprehensive teaching materials, along with rigorous teaching attitude, with the purpose to heighten the excellence of art learning, in order to comprehensively cultivate outstanding professionals for the future of creative industries and entering cultured talents to world-renowned art and design institutions.

The academy has opened up the brilliant path for students to connect with the creative fields, to realise one’s ambition and achieve personal goals. Beginning in 2017, Mr Wu Yeung established Marina International Academy of Art in Singapore. The academy is honoured to take part and give our effort into the uprising development of art and design education in Singapore.
